Solanum lycopersicum

History: this is Vicky’s absolute favourite tomato variety in terms of flavour. The seed was saved from a tomato plant she bought at an open garden day in Hampstead 10 years ago and has been grown every year since. The fruits are a dark red/purple colour as opposed to black, with an intense balance of flavour, and some resistance to blight in growing trials.

When to sow: from late February indoors to early April if you will be growing the plants outdoors.

Requirements: nutrient-rich soil, regular watering, and a lot of sun.

Harvesting: in southern England, typically July/later summer.

Please remember, if you’re an individual grower you can order up to 3 packets of seeds. If you order more than this, you will receive just three packs to begin with. This is to ensure we get plenty of data in return and to keep our stocks sustainable for years to come.*

*Community groups and Experienced Growers can order larger quantities, please email us if this is the case.

If an item is out of stock we will send a close alternative.
