Cucumis sativus

Story: Beautifully pale, thin skinned white, medium sized cucumbers with 15-20cm long oval fruits, with a lovely lemony-cucumbery flavour. We really enjoyed tasting it for the first time. Though it can cope outdoors in hot summers, and enjoys a heatwave, it would do best grown with some protection. Originally grown from a seed packet from an organic seed company, they were made commercially available by famous seed breeder W. Atlee Burpee in 1893 after they were received from a customer in New York.

Sow: indoors in April.

Requirements: Like other cucumber varieties, this would do best in a greenhouse or conservatory. Full sun, and moist soil.

Harvesting: for eating: pick fruits when young and firm. For seed harvesting: leave the fruit on the plant for as long as possible and be sure to let them fully ripen to yellow.

Please remember, we only send out three packs of seed. If you order more than this, you will receive just three packs to begin with. This is to ensure we get plenty of data in return, and to keep our stocks sustainable for years to come.
