story: these seeds are originally from the heritage seed library. the most spectacular of the callaloos, with deep red and green colouration. a real feature in ornamental flower beds, but it can be used as a cooking greens, and does well in Indian or Bangladeshi cooking with tomatoes, onions and spices.
when to sow: either direct sow in april, or start indoors 6 weeks before last frost.
requirements: once the seeds have germinated, callaloo is easy to care for, and handles drought well.
harvesting: when the plant is mature, use it as a cooked green.
please remember, we will only send out three packs of seed to first-season growers. if you order more than this, you are likely to receive just three packs to begin with. this is to ensure we get plenty of data in return, and to keep our stocks sustainable for years to come.
