sugar magnolia peas
pisum sativum var. macrocarpum
story: a very delicious pea which had ssn manager sonia sneaking pods for snacking all summer long. pods are a lovely dark purple. and best picked when pods are still slightly flat, just before they get full (once mature, the pods get tough).
sow: from late february indoors or from march when soil temps do not drop below 5 degrees. sow successionally every 4-6 weeks for constant crops throughout the growing season.
requirements: enriched soil, and water regularly, stake up to support.
harvesting: early summer onwards.
please remember, we will only send out three packs of seed to first-season growers. if you order more than this, you are likely to receive just three packs to begin with. this is to ensure we get plenty of data in return, and to keep our stocks sustainable for years to come.
