story: these seeds were gifted to us by the amazing gardeners at knepp castle. woad is used for making a beautiful blue dye and is a lovely flower for pollinators. it can grow up to 4 metres tall. THIS PLANT IS NOT EDIBLE.
when to sow: sow inside march-april.
requirements: once the seeds have germinated, woad is easy to care for.
harvesting: the flowers can be used to make dye, and seeds can be saved once the leaves die back and seed heads are brown and dry. one plant produces thousands of seeds, and woad seeds are typically only viable for a year.
please remember, we will only send out three packs of seed to growers. if you order more than this, you will receive just three packs. this is to ensure we get plenty of data in return, and to keep our stocks sustainable for years to come.
