Solanum lycopersicum

History: We received this seed from the Incredible Seed Library. They are named after the Aurora Borealis in Siberia where they originate from we’re sure they will be just as spellbounding. It is a bush variety, but still necessitates some support. It can germinate at lower temperatures and the large flattened fruits ripen early. Its abundant and flavourful fruits are considered a sauce type.

When to sow: from late February indoors to early April if you will be growing the plants outdoors.

Requirements: nutrient-rich soil, regular watering, and a lot of sun.

Harvesting: in southern England, typically July/later summer.

Saving Seed From Tomatoes: Allow the tomatoes to fully ripen on the plant then cut them open and squish the seeds out. Seeds need to be fermented to remove the sticky gel that surround them see our video on seed saving from tomatoes for the technique.

Please remember, if you’re an individual grower you can order up to 3 packets of seeds. If you order more than this, you will receive just three packs to begin with. This is to ensure we get plenty of data in return and to keep our stocks sustainable for years to come.*

*Community groups and Experienced Growers can order larger quantities, please email us if this is the case.

If an item is out of stock we will send a close alternative.
