Karen's Purple Runner Bean

Phaseolus coccineus

Story: a winding vine with scarlet flowers, Karen's runner bean plant produces a gorgeous pink and purple bean. It is a delicious and easy-to-grow bean and had great success from our own saved seed in 2021.

When to sow: plant out pot-raised beans in late May and early June or sow directly from mid-may until July.

Requirements: well draining soil, can be grown in pots. 

Harvesting: in the summer.
