Monstrance - Climbing French Bean

Also called the ‘Angel Bean’ due to its beautiful markings. This is a climbing French bean with white flowers, green pods and round, white beans with deep blue/purple ‘angel’ shaped markings on them. They were given to us by a lovely seed saver called  Steph Matthew Mills and we grew them for the first time in 2023. We saved as many beans as we could, which means we didn’t get to try them cooked as a dried bean but they were very tasty straight from the plant, even once the beans had begun to develop and the pods became lumpy. This bean has a lot of history in connection with the catholic church due to the patterns resembling the religious artefact - a monstrance.
