Monstrance - Climbing French Bean
Phaseolus vulgaris ssp. vulgaris var. vulgaris
History: Also called the ‘Angel Bean’ due to its beautiful markings. This is a climbing French bean with white flowers, green pods and white beans with deep blue/purple ‘angel’ shaped markings on them. They were given to us by a lovely seed saver called Steph Matthew Mills and grew them for the first time in 2023. This bean has a lot of history in connection with the catholic church due to the patterns resembling the religious artifact - a monstrance.
